I had a severe, traumatic case of chronic schizophrenia for 8 years. I prayed to God frequently but without knowing His Son. When I came to faith in Christ I was healed of nearly all the misery of my illness immediately. That was more than 5 years ago. I still need to take my medicine but I have different symptoms (schizoaffective disorder instead of schizophrenia). And I have been off my meds as a Christian and life was much more pleasant and manageable than when I had been an unbeliever though I took meds. Maybe your boyfriend's son can get put on disability payments, can see a psychiatrist for medication, and don't forget to treat him with love and respect. Contrary to what some doctors say, schizophrenics can be reasoned with. I want to remind you that people with schizophrenia are put on disability and given money by the government for good reason. For many schizophrenics, simply getting through the day can be a horror without the constraints of paid work. Christ heals people with schizophrenia too.
